Noah was fussy today... we made the mistake of taking him out when he was due for a nap. we thought he would just sleep in the car and in the stroller, but I guess he's getting too old for that to work all the time... he is so observant, he doesn't want to miss anything. When we got home, I think he was overtired because he couldn't seem to fall into a deep enough sleep to get a good nap. He's sleeping now and I hope he will have a good night of sleep!
We had an eventful day today. We went to Cyrus' pre-k graduation in the morning, then we came home for a good nap and some playtime before wine and recipe night. A few people got to see Noah before he went to bed for the night... I was surprised, but excited that he was able to sleep through all the noise. He did a really cool thing today... we've been putting our lips together and making a boat engine noise... today when i was changing his diaper he made the noise to me with his cute little lips vibrating together. :)
Noah was trying to pull his toes off of his feet so that he could eat them! He's been grabbing onto his soft toys and bringing them to his mouth to suck on. He's more interested in sucking on plush fabric than things meant to be sucked on. We had a great time this evening. I was bouncing him on my lap and laughing... he was smiling and sort of laughing too. He was really enjoying himself... it was the most I've heard him babble in a week at least!
Noah is really starting to grab things... mostly to bring them to his mouth and try to eat them! He got a new toy yesterday that he likes a lot. It's a lion we named Leopold that has a rattle in his head, a wrinkly sound tummy, and chewy legs. He is so aware now. He loves to stare at himself in the car mirror and he stays awake in the car now. His hair has really grown back over the past 3 weeks... he no longer looks like an old man in need of a toupee!
We have had quite an eventful day so far (and it's only 2pm). Nana and Pops came over for breakfast before heading back to Shreveport :( . Noah has had so much fun with them this week! Papa Alvin came up for a visit with Papa Kerry for a little while. Then Noah rolled over during his tummy time (it's been a while since he's done that). After a little snack Maria and Grace came over for a visit... Noah was so tired out from his busy morning. Grace got to feed him a bottle and then he fell asleep on her.
Noah got to spend the day with his Nana and Pops today. We went to the art market for dinner... he slept through the first part then was awake for the rest.
I woke Noah up to eat this morning after getting dressed for work... I guess he was not hungry yet, because he spit up all over me when I was trying to burp him!
Noah was so cute in he car today... he was sort of playing with his puppy blanket thingie. I had to take the headrest off of the seat so I could watch him in the mirror!
It was so nice to wake up and be able to stay home today. Noah and I went for a walk... for the first time he faced forward in the baby bjorn carrier. I think he really enjoyed it... when I talke him for strolls in the stroller he just falls asleep... this time he was looking around.
Nonna said Noah's really been enjoying some of his toys... the jack in the box and the colored rings are the ones they play with together. I'm so glad my mom has had the opportunity to spend quality time with him this week!
We had some visitors tonight... Teresa, Nick, Dominic, and Michelle. Noah was asleep the majority of the night. Dominic was very sweet with him... he'll make a great big brother some day!
I really think Noah is starting to look different... I know he's getting bigger because more and more of his clothes are getting too small every day. But I think his face is starting to change... it has definitely gotten chubbier (as have his legs and arms - especially this week), but he just looks so different to me lately.
It was hard to go to work today. When I went to tell Noah good-bye I thought he was sleeping in his crib... I leaned over and was welcomed by a smiling cooing Noah. He was ready to start his day which always involves a long conversation... I just wanted to stay at home and talk to him!
Today was my first day back at work. This week is Nonna's week to keep Noah. He did not sleep well AT ALL last night. So far he is being fussy again tonight... I hope he settles down and gets a good night's sleep! He gave himself a hickey from sucking on his arm earlier today. :)
Jamisen came to hang out with us this afternoon. We all sat at the picnic table and had lunch together. Papa came over to watch Noah for a few hours so I could got to Jazz Fest to see the end of Pearl Jam. It was the first time Noah was really chatty with Papa; when I left they were having a great conversation... it made it hard to leave!
Uncle Russ came in town today so Noah got to hang out with him, Aunt Jessica, Cyrus and Papa. Then Sun-Day and Jamisen came over and we all headed over to my mom's for dinner. We were planning on eating boiled seafood but because of the oil spill there was a mad rush to get seafood and the line at the seafood market was 20 people long (this is according to Aunt Jessica). We stopped and got some yucky fried seafood instead :( . But we had fun at Nonna's hanging out anyway. Uncle Alan came in town, so Noah finally got to meet him.
I was nervous about today because I had so many places to go... I didn't want Noah to be awake all day and get overtired and overstimulated. But he did great... he still got his naps in even though we were out. I went to a conference lunch... Nonna stole Noah for most of it. She fed him and then took him for a stroll. He took a nap while I went to the store. After that we headed off to his doctor's appointment... he weighed 11 lbs 4oz... less than Tuesday, but I weighed him just after he ate Tuesday. The doctor said he was above average height and average weight with a head circumference just below average... Jeff always talks about him needing to grow into his head because it seems so big... I was so surprised to hear it was not big in comparison to the rest of his measurements.
