Lilypie Third Birthday tickers

Tuesday August 31

Sick Day :(

Noah's first sick day... he has the sniffles (runny nose, dry cough, watery eyes). I stayed home with him today... we still had fun despite his not feeling 100%. He had his moments where he forgot he had a cold and other moments where I just wanted to cry with him. He seems to be feeling better than earlier and definitely better than last night (he woke up around 1am with the runny nose and didn't get back to sleep until 3:30am). He's staying home tomorrow (jeff and Papa are taking shifts watching him)... I hope he's all better and ready to go back to school on Thursday - only because it would break my heart to send him back to school until he is well.

Monday August 30

Noah's first full day of school went well. He took 2 naps... Jeff was relieved about that!

Sunday August 29

I love the weekends... I hope Noah loves them as much as I do. We went to Nonna's today to play with Nonna, Jessica, and Cyrus. Noah and Cyrus were playing on the floor together...both in their own little worlds playing with their own toys.

Saturday August 28

We went to the Children's Museum today for Mac's birthday party. Noah had fun in the toddler room. Jeff had never been, so he had lots of fun with Cyrus.

Friday August 27

It was picture day today... I forgot and Noah went to school in his poo dat shirt. Jeff took him for the picture and said Noah was grinning from ear to ear... at least he will look cute despite his dressed down appearance! He has been talking up a storm this week. The blah blah and dada and mama and baba sounds just keep coming, and they are so cute. He ate his oatmeal again without any sign that he cared it was something different... he should start on veggies soon, maybe those will phase him.
We webt to Daniel's bowling party tonight... Noah was quite a trooper. He is not used to being away from home past 4:30 or 5pm. I wish I would have had a little more play time with him... by the time we got home he ate dinner, took a bath, and fell asleep. I can't wait till tomorrow when I have all day with him! I wish I could work only half day and have some quality time with him... I feed him in the morning, leave for work, pick him up from school, feed him again, bathe him, and put him to sleep. I am a little sadder every day because I don't get real play time with him during the week... and now I'm back in school 2 nights a weeks when I won't get to see him at all :( .

Thursday August 26

Noah tried oatmeal today for the first time. I don't think he noticed it was any different from the rice cereal... or at least he didn't care.

Wednesday August 25

I hardly got to spend any time with Noah today. He woke up this morning at 5:30am to eat and went back to sleep. I picked him up from school and had about 30 minutes with him before I had to leave for my class. I didn't even get to play with him because I was feeding him before class. :( Even though I got out of class early he was already sleeping... I really missed my little guy today. I am jealous of the people at the nursery who get to spend time with him during the day. Jeff said he was babbling away this morning. And he took a nap at school Finally! I'm sure he enjoyed his day even though I didn't get to enjoy it with him. I'm looking forward to tomorrow because I will be free to play with him after I pick him up from the nursery. And I'm really excited to take him to the Children's Museum Saturday.

Monday August 23

Noah was in a good mood when I picked him up from school today. There were only 5 babies left in the room and no one was crying :) . It was so nice for the room to be quiet... everyone seemed relaxed! Despite the easy going day, Noah had a hard time napping and was exhausted when we got home. He ate and took a short nap after fussing with his eyes closed for 5 minutes... poor little guy. He is having a hard time napping at school... I'm guessing because it is so bright there (he's used to the blackout curtains in his room) and typically quite noisy. Jeff is going to bring a crib toy for him tomorrow to see if that will help.
Yesterday Jeff watched Noah go forward in the walker (just for a few steps). Today I got to see it too! I hope he is able to take off in it soon and travel all over the house.

Sunday August 22

We had lots of fun swimming... now we're all pooped!

Saturday August 21

Fun day. Nonna came over for breakfast. We went to play at Dominic's house. Then when we got home we got to play with Papa... he showed Noah how to use maracas. Noah was pooped and conked out at 6:15!

Friday August 20: The Great Car Seat Dilemma of 2010

I was almost to work when Jeff called this morning to ask me where the car seat was... I looked in the rear view mirror and noticed it in my car. I work 30 minutes away from home, so I did not have time to bring the seat back home. It all worked out for Noah though because he got to spend the day with his Aunt Jessica. He seemed very content when I got home... I think he was thankful to have some one on one playtime without all the noise of crying babies!

morning
dinnertimenight time (Noah's new sleep position...but in the air!)

Thursday August 19

Noah was playing on the floor when I picked him up today... his skin was cold again just like Monday. They keep the room pretty cold - guess it's to keep the germs to a minimum...? Anyway they said he was rolling all around and they though he would crawl soon! When Jeff was playing with him this morning he said he was rolling all over the place then too.

Wednesday August 18

Noah's second day of school went well. He was there from 11:30am until 4pm. He took two 30 minute naps. Dad went at 11am and hung out for 20 minutes playing with him. When I went to pick him up he was napping. When we got home he ate dinner and then we went to the art market with daddy and papa. Noah had a great time. He took a fun bath when we got home and went to sleep.

Tuesday August 17

Noah's first day of school.

Monday August 16

Happy Birthday Daddy!
Noah was so tired from playing with Aunt Jessica today that he didn't stay awake long enough to sing Happy Birthday to Daddy! We also went to visit his school today... I stayed and played with him for a while. He will have to go tomorrow to school even though it's going to break my heart. :(

Studio Pics taken 7.17.10

Noah made her next flyer! It's a rough draft copy which had some tape on it... sorry, I just couldn't wait to post it!

Sunday August 15

Noah has officially outgrown his swing. It wasn't working well this morning so I changed the batteries... that did virtually nothing. He has maxed out the weight limit!

Saturday August 14

We went to check on Noah this morning and he was so cute (of course) sleeping on his belly. Jeff said something which woke him up. He began to get fussy but instead of picking him up, we just tried smiling at him and talking to him. Anyway, he rolled himself over again and this time we were there to witness it! When we were playing on the floormat he was rolling back and forth... he made it look so easy as if he's a pro at it.
When we got him out of the bath tonight, we noticed his cute little pruny feet... I'm sure they get pruny all the time, but we've never noticed it before.

Friday August 13

When I went in Noah's room this morning he had pulled one side off the sleep positioner and was holding it in his hand (it's velcro so that it can be adjusted). He was still in place which made it even funnier. We have been wanting to take it out, but he rolls over and gets his arms and legs stuck in the crib slats and then he gets upset. We decided we better pull it out now so he wouldn't take it apart and put the piece in his mouth.
Jeff put him down for his morning nap without it, and as usual,he rolled over on his belly and cried because he couldn't roll back to his back. Instead of going in there to roll him back over, Jeff left him in the hopes he would fall back to sleep. When Noah got quiet Jeff went to check on him... he had rolled back over... FINALLY!

Thursday August 12

We are all sitting on the couch watching the Saints game! Noah got to see his first kick-off... he wasn't incredibly interested, but Dad was sure excited. Noah is falling asleep on Dad's lap. He got to play with Nonna and Nanna today so he is extra pooped.

Wednesday August 11

Noah is so excited when other babies are around... as much as I don't want him to go to school, I think he will really enjoy it. I missed it (which made me sad), but I was told he had lots of fun with baby Gigi. She's 15 months, so she was walking around which I'm sure amazed Noah.

Tuesday August 10

Monday August 9

Noah went to the doctor today. It was the first appointment I had to miss :( . He went with Daddy and Nanna. He's 26.5 in and weighs 18lbs 14oz. The doctor said he should be eating 5 to 5.5 oz each feeding... he nurses and gets an additional 4oz of formula! I asked her if we were feeding him too much during our 3 and 4 month visits and she said no... we're still feeding him the same amount a month later and now apparently it's too much... ? Well at least she said he was very healthy :) .
He came to visit me at work after his appointment... I was so happy to see him! I'm really going to miss him when he goes to school!

Sunday August 8

Nanna came in town today!

Saturday August 7

Friday August 6

Today was my first day back at work. Noah had a great morning with Dad and a great afternoon with Nonna. He went to Crane Rehab to visit and was so pooped when we got home, he was too tired to eat his rice cereal. He had fun at Crane sitting up like a big boy on the floor mat... he even got to play the keyboard while sitting on the mat.

Thursday August 5

Noah did something very cute in the car today. I pulled the sun shade on the car seat down because it was bright outside. Apparently Noah wanted to look out of the window despite the sun in his eyes... he grabbed the shade and pulled and pulled until it was all the way down by his legs. He proceeded to look out of the window (a new favorite pastime in the car) as happily as could be.

Wednesday August 4

Tuesday August 3

Noah and I went to Children's Hospital Parenting Center today for the mommy and baby group. Noah had so much fun!!! He was looking at the other babies and reaching out to them, as well as talking to everyone there. There were about 6 babies his age there. I wish we could have gone to the group more often. It's every Tuesday from 10am until noon, but we stayed until 1 talking to other parents (the facilitator leaves around 12:30... last time I went many people stayed past noon also). I would recommend it to anyone able to attend... it's free! I remembered many of the parents and babies from when I went in April, so it was neat to see their babies again. One of the little boys has the same birthday as Noah, so I really enjoyed seeing the two of them together... they will be together at Cub Corner next year too.

Monday August 2

What a busy day! First we went to pack up camp stuff and bring it to my work... Noah got some Nonna time during the packing and some nap time during the driving). At work he got to visit with some friends. Then he took another nap while we went to Babies R Us (we go there A LOT). He had a great time playing with Mrs. Debbie when we went to visit her at her house. He's become very ticklish! He took another nap while I drove to Party City for classroom decorations. When we finally got home he was tired, but hungry for his rice cereal... I somehow managed to hold him off until it was time. I made his cereal much thicker... I think he enjoyed it more this way. I thought he'd be ready for a good nap for sure, but instead he played on the floor with Daddy and Papa Kerry until bed time. He was so tired he fell asleep rather quickly!
He's been doing a great job rolling over the past 2 days... he only goes from his back to his belly. He has also been doing pretty good sitting up the past 2 days... he can do it on his own for a little while, but he doesn't quite understand he can't lean back while sitting up!

The Piano Men 7/31/10

Birthday Bath 8/1/10

Sunday August 1

Sitting up in the tub like a big boy!
Happy 5 month birthday Noah!

He's really been trying to sit up lately. He falls over after a matter of seconds unless he has something to help him a little like the cushion in the bath. He sat up for quite a while today with the help of the boppy pillow and played with a new toy (leap frog drum- which he liked a lot).

Saturday July 31

We had an interesting night! I took the sleep positioner out of Noah's crib yesterday. He did fine during his daytime naps...he didn't move around much at all. But last night he woke up around 2 am; he had rolled over on his tummy and gotten his arm through the slats in the crib which I'm guessing is what caused him to wake up. Then he woke up again around 4am when his head was against the front side of the crib and his foot sticking out of the back side of the crib. I read to take the bumper out when taking the sleep positioner out... I will definitely be putting both back in tonight!

Friday July 30

Two things Noah absolutely loves... his toes and his bath.

Noah and Daddy play piano together a lot... Noah loves it!

Today was the last day of camp which is so relieving!!!!! I am so tired and I only have 4 days off next week before starting work!!! I was excited about starting back at work, but now I am really upset because I don't want to have to send Noah to school. No one e-mailed me back or called me from Country Day or First Baptist... :( Help!!!!!

Thursday July 29

We went to orientation tonight for Noah's school... I was really disappointed. It was not ready; they basically only had the room painted and they purchased cribs. There was an alphabet floor mat and a butterfly floor mat and that was it. I expected to see swings, jumperoos, exersaucers, walkers, etc. They said they had some of those things ordered... I don't understand why they would not have ordered them soon enough to have there for orientation night! They said they are not getting a jumperoo which I am disappointed about since it is Noah's favorite. There are 9 babies enrolled in his class and 10 beds in the room with only 2 teachers. I made sure before I paid the application fee of $200 that they would have a 3:1 ratio... they said they were looking to hire another person, but it didn't sound promising (since they made the comment "we'd love to have a 3:1 ratio, but..."). One teacher was very nice and seemed excited, the other one seemed bland... she basically just stood there and answered questions; she did not have much of a personality and she definitely didn't seem enthusiastic at all. Anyway, I came home and cried because I am not comfortable sending Noah to school there. I e-mailed 2 places to see if they accept young infants and if they have any openings... I am very upset and don't know what to do... I was hoping this orientation would make me feel better about Noah going to school, but instead it made me feel much much worse and more apprehensive. I wish I could stay home with him or send him to Cub Corner!

Wednesday July 28

It's our anniversary today! Noah came to camp today and hung out. He was supposed to go swimming, but he was eating and hanging out inside instead (it was very hot today). I hope he will get another chance to go swimming before the end of the summer...I have been wanting to buy one of those little blow-up pools for the back yard.

Tuesday July 27

I have been looking at Noah a lot lately and realizing how tall he is. He was in his swing and his little foot was hanging over the edge. Just a few short months ago he was so small we had to wedge blankets around him to keep him from rolling all around in the swing.

Monday July 26

Noah's entourage (minus Sophie the giraffe)

Noah had a great day with Nonna... he was tired and very hungry this evening. He did great eating his rice cereal... I think he's finally got the hang of it!

Sunday July 25

Great day! Noah definitely does better when we stay home all day. He did well eating his rice cereal and hardly made any mess - for the first time. We had a lot of fun playing today... Noah is so wonderful!!!

Saturday July 24

I had to switch off with Jeff again because Noah was not going to sleep for me. He did the sweetest thing... he took his pacifier out and put it in Jeff's mouth... I'm glad I stayed in the room to see that! He didn't take long to go to sleep once Jeff took over (thank goodness).

Friday July 23

Noah was so tired that he had a hard time falling asleep. We had him in his jumperoo before bedtime thinking it would tire him out, but I think it tired him out while hyping him up... oops!

Thursday July 22

Wednesday July 21

Noah has been making the cutest little noises lately... especially today.

Tuesday July 20

Finally Noah swallowed almost the same amount of rice cereal he ended up wearing!!!

Sunday July 18

Sundays seems to have become grocery shopping days. Noah used to sleep through them, but the past two weeks he has been awake looking around. He ate rice cereal for the third time today... he is taking it in (well, what doesn't end up on his bib), but he doesn't seem to love it. He was kind of fussy when I was trying to feed him... I had to get a bottle to give him some milk in between bites (gums).

Breastfeeding

Ok, this blog is my journal, so this is a little personal, but I don't know where else to write about it. Anyway, don't read this post unless you want to read about my breastfeeding experience!

So when Noah was 6 weeks old, a friend commented, "Isn't breastfeeding great" to which I quickly responded hell no! It was painful, uncomfortable, and frustrating (since I never felt like I was doing things properly). But then shortly after that, I feel like I got the hang of it. It became less painful and at the end of Noah's second month I began to really enjoy it. Things were going great through most of Noah's third month; I always had to supplement with formula, but we had the system down... Noah breastfed first, then he got a bottle (except for the middle of the night when it was breasts only). Then towards the end of the third month he began to get fussy sometimes and just want a bottle, well now it seems to be getting worse. He hardly ever empties my breastmilk (if he takes it at all). I hope this trend does not continue because I was really enjoying breastfeeding and when I go back to work he'll be getting a lot more bottles without breastfeeding first...I hope this doesn't make him too lazy to breastfeed!

Saturday July 17

Boy what a long day! We went to Milestone today to have pictures taken. Noah was not his usual smiley self...I think he was taking it all in... and it was very stimulating (especially all the noises and gadgets used to try to get his attention). Despite the lack of smiles from the NoMan, the photographer still managed to get some cute photos... we can't wait to go pick them up in about 2 weeks. After that, we came home for a short nap and then we headed off to a BBQ... Noah was so tired that we had to leave before the food was all ready to eat. Now he's whining himself to sleep... at least we hope he's going to go to sleep! It's not his fault though, we weren't home long enough today for him to get a good nap... Whew, the whining has stopped; I hope he has sweet dreams of milk, pacifiers, and toys!

Friday July 16

Thursday July 15

We tried rice cereal for the second time tonight... we all ate dinner together in the dining room. Noah enjoyed his food much more this time even though he had a hard time figuring out how to keep it in his mouth.

Wednesday July 14

Noah has been exploring our faces the past few weeks... especially Jeff's with the bead thing he has going. It's so sweet when he is touching gently and not hitting us in the face.
We took Noah out to our first family dinner with just the three of us tonight. We ate at Basil Leaf... we planned it so that he would fall asleep in the car and sleep during dinner... Despite the fact that he was awake the entire time, he was well behaved and allowed us to enjoy our dinner (as he explored the table and his surroundings).

Tuesday July 13

Ok, we did it... Noah had his first taste of rice cereal today and...

he did not seem to like it.
