Noah has slept for the majority of the day today despite the fact that we had visitors (Auntie Glo, Uncle Vern, Nanan, and Uncle Al). I think he was sleeping off a tummy ache. I think Jamisen rubbed off on him because he has definitely discovered his hands and has been sucking on them since. He gets his whole fist in his mouth! He has started blowing bubbles too.
Noah woke up this morning with only one sock on... it reminded me of being a kid because that's how Jessica would always walk up (when she was a few years older). He has been doing so well sleeping at night... he usually wakes up to eat and then goes back in his crib with no complaints (he makes noises, but he doesn't cry). Last night I think he had a tummy ache or something because we usually put him down awake and he wasn't having it. Then when he woke up to eat he was up for 2 hours and I had to rock him back to sleep. Hopefully he will feel better tonight and things will go back the way they were. :)
He did have on clothes, but he peed as soon as I took his diaper off to change him... other than the missing clothes, this is exactly how I found him this morning. I cannot figure out how the left sock got all the way over to the right side of the bed...?
We went to a mommy and baby group at the Children's Hospital Parenting Center today... it was great! There were other new mom's for me to talk to and and a big mat in the middle of the room for all the babies to play on. It's for newborns to 6 month olds... The older babies were looking at Noah, but he mostly chilled on his tummy on the mat.
After lots of great talk time and a nap we went on a walk today. It's so bumpy in our neighborhood because there are patches of missing sidewalk everywhere and the street is so torn up and shoddily patched. Noah was awake for a while, but I think he fell asleep shortly after I had to cover him all up (to hide him from the beating sun). I really enjoyed the walk... I hope he did too!
We went to my school fair today. Noah got hungry when I was trying to get ready to leave, so we were just a minute or two late... but that was late enough to miss my class performing. It's ok though, I got to see some of the parents and kids as they were piling out of the gym. We hung out for a while visiting with people, but it was just too hot and sunny to stay outside. I put sunscreen on Noah for the first time... he smelled so good!
It was a rainy day today; we stayed home. Noah was a little fussy... I don't think he liked the rainy weather! He had his first projectile spit up... there was almost as much spit up as there was Noah. I have never seen anything so crazy... it was like something in a movie!
We had a picnic lunch in the park today with Daddy. We sat by the river at the Fly. Then we went to Daddy's work picnic for dinner. We really enjoyed the nice weather, but Noah was tired out by the end of the day!
We went to the book store today... it was the first time Noah got fussy in public. He usually sleeps when we go out in public, but today he woke up and did not like being away from home. Luckily Aunt Jessica called and wanted to visit so she came to meet us and gave him a bottle which calmed him down and made him a little drowsy.
The two blissful nights of 7 hour durations between feedings will have to hold me over for at least a little while because since then we have been back to the 2-4 hour feedings. But he is just so cute... he has been smiling a lot. He loves to have a clean diaper on because he smiles almost every time we finish changing his diaper. He has looked up a few times for a second or two at the mirror and birds at the top of the swing, but today he looked at them for a few minutes. He is becoming more and more observant every day... it is so amazing to watch him progress!
We had another busy day... we went to St. Pius' School Fair and then back to Nonna's to play. This evening we went to visit with Jessica and Cyrus and Papa at Papa's house. Cyrus finally got to hold Noah for an extended period of time. Noah was sound asleep and Cyrus was having fun checking him out.
Noah went for 6 hour intervals between feedings Wednesday and Thursday during the day... then he finally did it at night last night (actually a 7 hour interval). He ate at 10pm and slept until 5am!!! I was so excited to get a nice duration of sleep... I got to sleep for 6 straight hours (since it takes him about an hour to eat); it was much appreciated!
he was not sure what to think of this chair... I think it's a little too early, but we were trying to put him in it so we could eat together and have him by us.
ohhh! I'm naked!
relaxing in the bath
he often has his finger out like this when he sleeps... is he trying to tell us to back off...?
Noah and I had a long talk this morning... he has been so vocal lately. At some point I thought to go get the camera, but of course he would not "talk" when I try to record. I swear he is smiling at me sometimes... Papa Kerry thought he smiled at him yesterday too... I know everyone says it is just gas though.
I sat in front of the mirror today with Noah... he seemed a little confused by it. He is so vocal when he plays on his mat... I just wish I knew what he was saying!
Nanan came over for a visit this morning; it was the first time Noah was really awake for her to play with him. After that we went to St. Dominic's school fair. Noah did great... he was awake almost the whole time. Nonna, Aunt Jessica, Nancy Claire, Mrs. Marian, and Susie were passing him around and having fun playing with him. The weather was perfect too.
Today was a beautiful day! I tried to go to FQF with mom and Jess, but there was absolutely nowhere to park and we got stuck in ridiculous traffic trying to get there. I finally made it home after being stuck in the car for a while and we just hung out at the house... we really should have taken a walk... hopefully the weather will be just as nice tomorrow.
Noah is sleeping in his swing making the cutest noises ever! We had an eventful day... we ate lunch at NOLA Bean with Aunt Jessica... shortly after that Susie and gang came to visit... then we went to Nonna's to visit with Nonna, Jessica, Cyrus, and Laurel. Cyrus held Noah and tried to get him to play cars with him... he doesn't really understand much about babies! He did sing to Noah and touch him gently, but he wants him to play with all the big boy toys... I guess Cyrus is just trying to share his fun things.
Ok, so Noah rolled over 2 days ago and I thought it was just by chance, but he did it 2 more times this morning. We actually got it on video too! The first time he did it today it was one quick swift motion like he did on Tuesday, but the second time it required much more determination.
He also looked up today and noticed the mirror or birds at the top of the swing... it was so cute to see him watching them.
I had to go to work today to take our class picture. The kids have been dying to meet Noah so I took him with me. I was nervous to bring him to school, but I knew I could not show up without him or the kids would be very upset.
I started having allergy problems yesterday and the medicine makes me very tired. Noah played by himself on the floor mat this afternoon and let me take a nap on the futon next to him. I usually talk to him, but I could hear him talking away and hitting the toys that make noises... he's such a good baby!
Noah rolled over from his belly to his back this morning... I think it was just by chance since he is so young, but it was still very exciting.
I was reading he should be able to hold his head up for a few seconds when lying on his belly... I had never placed him on his belly before so I decided to try it... after only a short time being on his belly he rolled over! I ran to get the camera and tried to get him to so it again, but he didn't.
Noah has been putting himself to sleep by grunting and making all sorts of strange noises... he does it for about 20 minutes before he falls asleep (after eating in the middle of the night).
A squirrel got in our house today. Noah and I had to evacuate to my mom's while Jeff and our neighbor David chased him out. Noah got his first real bath (he can finally be submerged in water now that his belly button has healed)... he loved it! He was nice and warm and content. After he got out my mom said he laughed out loud.
Noah is a growing boy... he woke up every 2 hours to eat and ate for an hour at a time which means I only got to sleep in 1 hour intervals last night. I am starting to feel a little crazy! I definitely understand the term "you're lucky you are so cute". After one of his feedings last night, he looked me and cooed then smiled. :)
