Noah helped while getting dressed today. I put the romper over his head and I was pulling it down over his abdomen when he inserted his arms into the arm holes all by himself... the romper is loose fitting, so a few arm movements did the trick. He's also been trying to hold the bottle when he eats.
This was the longest nap Noah took all day (about an hour and a half). He was awake almost the whole day (I think he was making up for sleeping almost the whole day yesterday!).
We went on another stroller walk today... a long one this time. Noah slept despite all the bumps (resulting from the lack of sidewalks in our neighborhood). We had a long day - after our walk we went out to dinner at Drago's with Nonna, Uncle Russ, Aunt Jessica, and Cyrus. Thanks to the new Mylicon drops (and an even bigger thank you to all who suggested them) Noah slept well last night and we plan to have another night of good sleep!
We went for our first short walk today using the stroller. It was nice and we can't wait for more walks to come now that the weather is getting nice. We also went to an Easter Egg Hunt today at Anna's house where Noah had a huge blowout... all over his onesie, his socks, his blanket, my shirt, my pants, and the ground! Once again, we didn't take any pictures... we can't ever seem to remember to take pictures when we go places!
We did not get a lot of sleep last night... I think Noah had a tummy ache. He was up past 2am. This morning I put some music on for him; when I asked him if he liked it, he said coo (which I interpreted as cool). We had to go back to visit the doctor today... Noah had a reaction to the silver nitrate they put in his belly button yesterday. It caused a small chemical burn on his skin around his belly button. : ( It will be ok though... we have some Silvadene to put on it). Nana and Pops came in town today... Nana came with us to the doctor's office where Noah peed on the doctor as she checked his circumcision.
We're having a good day so far... Noah has been making the cutest faces lately. He smiles and wiggles his ears when he eats. I wish I could get a picture of it, but I am always feeding him when he does it. He seems to be hiccuping a lot - the doctor said it doesn't bother him, but it sure seems to... especially when they last a long time. He's so content right now in the papasan swing... I'm so glad he loves the swing!
Last week my mom was visiting and while rocking Noah he cooed for her. She was so excited! Tonight I was holding him and he looked at me and it almost sounded like he said "hey"... it was so great. I know he's not really talking, but he's starting to make noises that sound like he trying to talk. :)
I was trying to take a picture of his belly button when he made this crazy looking face.
Noah's umbilical stump finally fell out today... it's so nice to not have to fold the diaper down anymore. It seemed so much bigger when it was attached; I was surprised to see how tiny it was when I found it (it fell out and went into his diaper). He must be going through a growth spurt or something because he's been eating like every 2 hours since yesterday. He was awake for a while today... it was nice to spend awake time with him. Papa Kerry finally got to spend some awake time with Noah; almost every time he's come to visit in the past Noah's been sleeping.
Noah has been smiling a lot lately. Everyone keeps telling me he just has gas, but I like to believe he's smiling because he's happy. :) He's just so cute!
Our little family went to the grocery store today. Noah's car seat did not fit in the front of the basket, so we had to put it in the big part... Jeff and I each had a cart - one for Noah and the diaper bag and the other for the groceries. I'm glad Jeff has been running all the errands with me so I can know what to expect when I have to go alone with Noah! Since it was cold today, we had him all bundled up in the car seat with the extra cover on it... I wish I would have taken a picture because I thought it was pretty funny looking.
Noah went to the doctor's office to be weighed today - he weighed 8lbs 1oz. :) After that we ran some errands and visited some friends. This evening I think Noah ate a little too fast, because he threw up. It was just milk and formula, so it wasn't gross or anything, but it was a lot... like everything he had just eaten in a puddle all over my shirt... at least it was easy to clean!
Well, I finally had to do it... Noah got his first taste of formula today. It was half milk and half formula... it seemed to make him very sleepy. After he drank the formula he was very alert and happy for about an hour or two and he's been sleepy ever since (well, except for waking up many times to eat).
Wow! I didn't realize how worn out I looked until seeing this picture!
Hooray... Noah slept well last night!!! He ate around 10:30pm and was still hungry, so he had a bottle around 11:30pm. Then he slept until 4:30am! After eating at 4:30, he went back to sleep until 7:30am. Jeff and I are hoping the bottle right after feeding him did the trick and we are going to try it again tonight. Luckily I was able to make 2 more bottles last night while he slept... that's the most I've been able to make in one night... hopefully I will be making more food for him too from now on.
Noah was awake for a little while this morning, but he has been very hungry and sleepy the rest of the day. He has been wanting to eat about every 2 hours and then he either goes back to sleep or cries (very loudly) if I try to keep him awake and play with him. When I was changing his diaper this afternoon, he urinated all over himself, the changing pad, the dresser, the wall, and even the car seat which was on the floor next to the dresser... it was like a strong fountain or oscillating sprinkler.
Today was Jeff's first day back at work... we really missed having him around. I had to shower and get dressed for the first time with no help... Noah was a good boy, he stayed content in the vibrating bouncy seat waiting for me to finish. Luckily, we had a long day to occupy our time. Aunt Kathy was so kind to accompany us to my doctor appointment and a quick run to the store. Then when we got home we had some visitors from work: Mrs. Debbie, Mrs. Gerry, and Mrs. April. Noah was awake for a long time today... it was the first time he was awake for over an hour during the day (several hours actually). I thought he would sleep so well, but he was awake from 12:30am until about 4am... I love the awake time during the day, but not at night!
Nonna is having a small get-together at her house today... we are excited for our first party! Noah was asleep during the party, but he was awake for 3 hours at night... from 2:30am until 5:30am - at which point I woke up Jeff who was sleeping in our bedroom for the first time alone to get some rest for his return to work Monday.
We went on an outing today (with Aunt Jessica) to go to a feeding class at East Jefferson. Unfortunately it was sort of a waste of time (3.5 hours of our time). The speaker was the most helpful nurse when I was in the hospital... she recommended I attend the class. But then when I went to ask her a few questions during the class she told me I was going to have to come in for a consult... which of course she let me know had a small fee associated with it. What b.s. she told me to come to the class, then she did not want to offer me any assistance when I showed up... ? On a happier note, Aunt Kathy and Uncle Steven came over this morning for a visit. We ate a delicious breakfast together and they played some music for us.
We went to visit the doctor again today... Noah did not gain any weight! I do not understand how this is possible since all he does is eat, sleep, and go to the bathroom. Jeff says his output must be equal to his input.
Another fussy night and another sleepy day. Noah spit up for the first time this morning... never thought I'd say this, but it was so cute! I was a little upset that all the milk was wasted... it's such hard work for both of us for him to get enough milk. He continues to be extremely hungry and seems to want to eat all the time!
Noah had his first rough night last night. He was just so upset and we couldn't figure out why. He cried his little heart out for over an hour... Jeff says 2 hours. He ate and ate and ate before bedtime, but he still seemed unsatisfied. It was very sad and frustrating.
Noah spent his first night in his crib last night. I had a bad headache, so I went to sleep in our bedroom (where Noah has been sleeping in the pack n play). Jeff took Noah into his nursery and he slept so well... guess the crib is much more comfortable. We tried to go on an outing today, but as soon as we got in the car Noah began crying frantically. We sat in the car for a little while trying to calm him down, but he was not having it. As soon as I handed him to Jeff outside the car he settled down. Needless to say, all three of us did not leave the house together.
Oh my... these people won't stop taking pictures of me!
Noah slept much better last night... he slept from 4am until 9am! We had more visitors today - Teresa and Dominic, Pat, David, Nanane and Uncle Al, then the regulars... Cyrus, Russ, Jessica, Nonna, and Papa Kerry. I actually got out and left Jeff with Noah... I tried the pump for the first time to leave Jeff with some milk... that was an interesting experience! Anyway, I went to eat at Juans with the family... I missed Noah so much even though I was only gone for about an hour! The cats have been mia for the most part, but they came around tonight and sniffed around Noah's pack n play. Nicki has shown some interest in checking out Noah, but Jasper seems to just want him to go away... he's used to getting all the attention.
We went to the doctor this morning to be weighed. Noah lost 10oz in the hospital but gained 5 back over the last few days. We went to visit Nonna and Mrs. Laverne and Nancy Claire came over. We went home and had crawfish with Papa Kerry, Aunt Jessica, Uncle Russ, and Cyrus in our back yard. Jason and Austin and Anitha came for a visit too.
